The short version
Use the app for personal use. Don't abuse it. The free tier is yours to keep. Better is a one-time $2.99 purchase. Way Better is an auto-renewing subscription that you can cancel anytime in your Apple ID settings — Apple, not us, handles the billing and refunds. The verdicts are educated guidance, not promises about your specific call or upload. Singapore law governs the rest.
The full version follows. Headings let you skip to whichever part you actually need.
Who you're agreeing with
Good Enough is built and operated by Ng Zhong Wei, a sole developer based in Singapore. Throughout these terms, "we", "us", and "the app" refer to this. "You" means the person using the app on an iPhone or iPad.
By installing or using Good Enough, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, the app can be removed in two taps and that's the end of it.
About Apple
Good Enough is licensed, not sold, to you. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
To the extent these terms conflict with Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula), Apple's terms control on the matters they cover. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Using the app
- Personal use. Good Enough is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use on iPhone and iPad. You can use it at work, at home, on holiday — that's all "personal" in this context. What "non-commercial" rules out is reselling its output, scraping its data into a competing service, or wrapping it inside another product.
- One human, normal use. Don't run automated scripts, instrumentation, or load-generation tools through the app. Don't deliberately stress the speed test endpoints by running rapid back-to-back checks for the purpose of harming the service or the third-party endpoints it uses.
- No reverse engineering. Don't decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive source code from the app, except to the limited extent that applicable law permits despite this restriction.
- Security disclosure. If you find a bug or security issue, please email it to us instead of exploiting or disclosing it publicly. Genuine reports are appreciated.
The free tier
The free tier of Good Enough is, well, free. There is no time limit, no trial countdown, and no requirement to ever pay. The free tier includes:
- Unlimited connection checks.
- Up to three saved places.
- All five plain-English verdicts.
- Per-activity guidance for video calls, streaming, gaming, cloud apps, livestreaming, music, hotspot, and browsing.
We may add or remove free-tier features over time. If we materially reduce what's free, we'll bump the "Last updated" date and let you know in-app.
Better — one-time purchase
Better is a single, one-time in-app purchase priced at USD $2.99. Pricing in your local currency is set by Apple's App Store regional pricing tiers and may differ slightly from the USD figure.
Better unlocks unlimited saved places, home-screen widgets, and configurable place cards. The purchase is tied to your Apple ID and applies to all your iCloud-linked devices that are signed into the same Apple ID.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — we have no access to billing or refund tooling. Use Apple's "Report a Problem" tool at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Way Better — auto-renewing subscription
Way Better is an auto-renewing subscription with two billing cycles available at checkout: USD $2.99 per month or USD $14.99 per year. Local pricing is set by Apple and may vary by region.
Way Better unlocks pattern intelligence, predictive cellular alerts, smart slowdown alerts, trends across hours and days, connection monitoring during work sessions, monthly report cards, and additional widgets.
The following terms are required disclosures for auto-renewing subscriptions:
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, depending on which you chose) at the then-current price for the equivalent period, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Charging. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- How to cancel. You can manage and cancel your subscription anytime by going to your Apple ID account settings → Subscriptions on your device. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; you keep access until then.
- No partial refunds. Apple does not provide partial refunds for the unused portion of a subscription period after cancellation. Once a period has been billed, you keep access for the remainder of that period regardless of when you cancel.
- Refunds. All Way Better refunds are processed by Apple, not us. Use Apple's "Report a Problem" tool at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Price changes. If we change the price of Way Better, Apple will notify you of the new price and ask for your consent before the next renewal at the new rate. You can decline and your subscription will end at the current period's expiry.
Free trials and introductory offers
If we offer a free trial or an introductory price for Way Better, the trial or intro period will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the standard price unless you cancel before it ends. Cancellation works the same way as for any subscription: Apple ID → Subscriptions, anytime during the trial.
Apple's standard rule applies: each Apple ID is eligible for one free trial per subscription product.
The verdicts are guidance, not guarantees
This section matters more than the legal language around it. Please read it.
Good Enough's five verdicts — Great, Good, OK, Slow, Very Slow — are educated estimates. They're computed from the download speed, upload speed, ping, and jitter measured at the moment you ran the test, mapped against thresholds we've calibrated for typical use of each activity. They are correct often. They are not always right.
What we are explicitly not telling you when we display a verdict:
- That a specific upcoming video call will succeed.
- That a specific online game will lag-free.
- That a specific upload will complete without retries.
- That the network will still be performing at this level five minutes from now.
Network conditions change in real time. Use the verdicts as a directional answer to "is this place worth setting up at?" — not as a contractual promise. We cannot be liable for outcomes that depend on factors outside the snapshot the test captured.
Things outside our control
The app depends on a number of third-party services and conditions that we do not own or operate. We cannot be responsible for:
- Cloudflare's speed test infrastructure. If their endpoints slow, return inaccurate results, or are temporarily unavailable, the app's measurements will reflect that.
- iOS framework behavior. The app uses Apple's network frameworks, CloudKit sync, location services, and StoreKit. iOS bugs, regressions, or API changes can affect the app.
- The App Store. Pricing, billing, refunds, subscription handling, restore-purchase mechanics, and price displays are all Apple's domain.
- Your device, network, or carrier. Local Wi-Fi quality, VPNs, content filters, captive portals, throttling, signal strength, and battery state all influence test results in ways we can't see or correct.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Singapore law: the app is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranties, express or implied, beyond those that cannot legally be disclaimed. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the verdicts will be accurate or fit for any particular purpose.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, missed meetings, failed uploads, dropped calls, or business interruption — arising out of or in connection with your use of the app, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the app is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $20. For free-tier users, this cap is therefore USD $20.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for certain damages. Where this is the case, those exclusions or limitations apply only to the extent permitted in your jurisdiction.
Termination
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. There is no notice required, no exit interview, no retention email.
We can suspend or terminate your access to the app, or to specific features, if you materially violate these terms — for example, by abusing the speed test endpoints, attempting to reverse engineer the app, or exploiting a security issue rather than reporting it. In practice this provision exists to handle genuinely harmful behavior; normal use never triggers it.
Termination of access does not automatically terminate an active Way Better subscription. To stop being billed, cancel through your Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Changes to these terms
We will update these terms from time to time as the app evolves. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change. For material changes, we'll post a one-screen notice the next time you open the app.
Continuing to use the app after a material change means you accept the updated terms. If you don't, you can stop using the app and remove it.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms, your use of the app, and any dispute arising out of or relating to either, are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
Any dispute that cannot be resolved by good-faith email correspondence will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
Nothing in this section overrides any non-waivable consumer protection rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.
